RVA Thrift Guide: Secondhand Shops in Richmond

RVA Thrift Guide: Second Hand + Consignment Shops in Richmond, VA

Here in my hometown, second hand shops in Richmond are everywhere and each one offers up something to feed my soul.  Over the years, I’ve become a regular in many of these thrift and consignment shops. I am still discovering more. I regularly refer visitors to certain shops in my writing outside of Sweet Sauce. As a personal and corporate stylist, I also find myself hunting for very specific things and the second hand shops always deliver.  There are several reasons why I love to shop second hand clothing personally and why I suggest others give it a try:

  • It’s a budget friendly way to try new trends. Learn what works for you and what doesn’t! Invest again if you discover something new you love.
  • It’s a step toward creating a more sustainable lifestyle. I wrote about this here.
  • It’s a fun way to get to know the personality of an area. When I travel, I always head to at least one second hand or consignment shop because I can get a feel for the personality of a neighborhood. Check out my Joshua Tree thrift shop adventures.
  • You’re shopping local pretty much every time. As we navigate our way into a post-covid world, this intention is more important than ever.

As we dive in to this SUPER extensive guide, we’ll share as many up-to-date details as we can in light of COVID. I’ll also share looks I’ve created during recent years with items from second hand shops in Richmond.

Keep scrolling to read my full list of second hadn’t shops in Richmond. If you see any information that needs to be updated or know a business that should be included, send me an email: sweetsauceblog@gmail.com.
