Beauty Essentials for the Traveler

travel beauty

Here I am again–packing up my bag full of my favorite clothes, books, and beauty products. Last weekend I was in Washington DC after spending a day at the Leesburg Outlets. Today, I am planning a week-long getaway to the West Coast. I’ll be leaving early Saturday morning to get on a flight to Portland, Oregon. The fun part: I have a 12-hour layover in Denver! Then, a few days in Portland and a few days in Seattle to see music, family, and eat a lot of food. (And take a lot of photos).

I have a few new simple beauty products that I can take with me on short weekend getaways to long weeks across the country. I wanted to share them with you as you plan your own getaways this summer.

slip eye mask

  1. A Silk Eye Mask: I’ve written before about the power of silk. I got a bunch of silk pillowcases now. They prevent fine lines and help keep your skin clear. I did a lot of research and the Slip brand was affordable and high quality. This one is only $40. (Some get to more than $100!). Having an eye makes on the road is essential when you find yourself needing naps because of the time change or sleeping in late after long nights. Total game changer if you haven’t tried, yet!

face wipes

2. Easy and effective facial pads. I brought a box of these Kleenex exfoliating cushions to a bachelorette weekend in Charlottesville. I left them out on the table for the house of 12 girls to try out. After a day at the winery, a night out at the bars, and a long hike in the mountains there was not a single one left. Everyone said their skin felt smooth, super clean, and non irritated. I have sensitive skin and was the last to try them. Same results here. These are a killer travel investment. You can even take them out of the box and slip a few dry ones in your makeup bag to save room. Genius!

night cream

3. A night cream that works. I was sent Junetics Pure Energy Night Cream and Pure Energy Eye Cream a little over a month ago. A good night cream can be all you need to maintain moisturized skin on long trips, especially those that involve traveling on a plane. I have sensitive and dry skin. I also have dark circles and consistently tired eyes. I have been slathering on the night cream right after I cleanse my face at night. I wake up feeling supple and fresh. I dab on the eye cream at night or in the morning after I splash water on my face. I feel less puffy and my skin is ready for makeup.

What’s in your suitcase? What can’t you travel without?!
