Five Tips for Glowing Skin During the Winter + Giveaway

skin care

My body is aging, just like yours.  I can already see it in the corners of the eyes of my late 20s face. I don’t expect to age as slowly as JLo who has made a commitment to avoid both alcohol and caffeine for the sake of her glowing mug. I will party and drink my skinny vanilla lattes, have no fear. But I am committed to give more love to my skin and to creating healthy skin care routines that I can manage.  I’ve recently committed to a few adjustments. After about a month of incorporating these new tactics into my life, I went out without foundation or tinted moisturizer the other day!

Gasp.

Seriously, though, I was glowing and people noticed. (And no, I’m not pregnant.)

From me to you, here are a few tips to stay glowing as the air turns bitter and dry featuring my latest obsession, Trufora. Follow me on Instagram for a chance to win a few of the essentials.

Go Soap Free

Soap strips your skin. My eczema-cursed skin stays dry and sensitive year round. This how a lot of people feel in the winter. I need products that encourage my skin to create its own moisture. Trufora’s facial cleanser cuts the soap and uses a gel mixture of aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, and ingredients drawn from dried apples to give you a clean slate at the end of the day (and beginning if you follow directions). It gets every bit of Marc Jacobs off my eyes and leaves my skin feeling supple after each use.

Get Natural

Every beauty magazine editor will tell you, antioxidants will save your skin. They prevent sun damage and also help your skin retain its natural oils. I’m obsessed with the Titanium Day Cream from Trufora. I put it on before my tinted CC Cream moisturizer from Arbonne. The Titanium Day Cream creates a non greasy base that gives my skin an automatic glow before I put on anything else.

Silk is beauty sleep’s secret weapon. It reduces redness and inflammation, which means smaller bags under your eyes. After using a silk pillow case for just one week, my cheeks were very much like a cliche baby’s bottom. Do your research before you buy. You want 100%. Try this one.

You are what you eat. It’s real, ya’ll. Without launching into a full blown discussion about all the foods you can eat and not eat for more luminescent skin, let’s just start with one simple routine. Take a multivitamin. Make sure it has a full serving of vitamins E, D, and C at the least. I’ve been using Women’s One-A-Day. It’s got all the good stuff. More than just your face will thank you.

You can’t glow from the inside if you’re dehydrated. Especially in the winter when the dry heat goes up, the rain turns to snow, and we miss the days of humidity. You need to chugalug. I don’t let myself eat or drink anything after I wake up (not even my lattes!) before I drink a big giant glass of water. Gulp it down, sweeties. Get a drink enhancer if you hate the taste. Something like Mio will do just fine.
