Three Ways to Style a Dolman Sleeve Sweater

Three Ways to Style a Dolman Sleeve Sweater

I’ve been on a tear lately adding super basic items to my closet. I’ve noticed a few trends. Firstly, the items are all in a neutral set of colors: grey, black, red and white. I’ve been doing this because I’ve also been getting in some fun, exciting items like leopard print denim and resurrecting old favorites like a pair of red high waisted jeans. In order to make these things work, my basics need to be up to par. Last week, I welcomed this new addition to the family: the Dolman Sweater from Lou Lou and Zest Boutiques.

The dolman sweater is one of those shirts you put on and kind of twirl around in and it looks good from every angle. The dolman sleeve gives it its name.  The sleeve style is very wide at the top of the arm and narrows towards the wrist or elbow, cut in one piece with the body of the garment. It’s such a great staple for dressing up or down, as you can see.

Ideas for Styling your Dolman Sweater

Because the dolman sweater is sort of oversized and loose, You’ll see I find ways to add a more fitted bottom or even skirt on the bottom to balance out the look. I definitely wanted to avoid any wide leg pants. Keep scrolling to see how I styled it three ways.

I popped into Lou Lou to pick up this super soft dolamn sleeve sweater. It has already woven seamlessly into my wardrobe. See how I styled it three ways.

  1. Yes! That IS a great sweater. I have one similar, but I had no idea that’s what it was called. It hides a multitude of body flaws; I always feel young and cute in it. 😉 And you rock it paired with those bell bottoms! What a fabulous color.
