3 Stupid Simple Holiday Decorations to Make with Your Wine Corks

Ya’ll know me. I don’t like to mess around with too many fine details. I also like to spend my time enjoying life than stressing over holiday decor. That being said, I do have an art degree, years of crafting obsession history, and love for apartment decor. When my roommate and I set out to decorate our apartment for the holiday season, we had one thing in abundance: wine corks. So, we incorporated them into our holiday decor. The result is not only a fresh take on holiday decor, but a cohesive look throughout our apartment. I even create a few gifts out of the venture.

I decided to record the details and share them with you here. Start saving your wine corks now or reach into your stockpile to get ready for the season. wine cork ornament

Wine Cork Ornaments

These are the easy kind. No glue. No reindeer. Just a tree speckled with single wine corks!

Supplies:

  • Wine Corks
  • Ornament Hooks

Directions: Poke the ornament hooks into the side of the cork toward the top. You want to put it on the side and not the top so it stick out a bit on the tree. You’ll have more control how it lays that way, too.

Jar of Christmas

It’s like a shabby chic Christmas decoration you don’t event have to try to make.

Supplies:

  • Wine Corks
  • Clear jar
  • Ornaments

Directions: This is actually the jar I kept extra wine corks in throughout the year. I took some out for the other crafts. I filled the empty spaces with cheap Christmas ornaments. So simple, but not cheesy in my opinion.

what to do with tree trimmings

When we got our tree, the tree trimmer pointed to a pile of trimmings and said we could take some for free. We filled spa. bag naturally! We didn’t have a plan, but it didn’t take long when I pulled out holiday decor and realized how much extra ribbon I had.

Supplies:

  • Trimmings
  • Ribbon
  • Wire
  • Wine Corks
Directions: Cut a long string of wire. Wrap it around the end of the  branch or multiple trimmings. This will make top slender and easier to wrap ribbon around. Secure the end of the ribbon to the trimming with the wire. Wrap until it starts to fan out at the bottom. Secure with another ribbon. Reach for an ornament hook or short piece of wire to hook on to the cork like you did for the wine cork ornaments. I also threw on an actual ornament or an airplane bottle on a few.
