Thoughts on Adaptation + Wearing this White Off the Shoulder Top For Fall

“Don’t let fear or insecurity stop you from trying new things. Believe in yourself. Do what you love. And most importantly, be kind to others, even if you don’t like them.” – Stacy London

Let’s Adapt Together and Musings on My White Off the Shoulder Top

Seasons change, trends change, and presidents change, am I right? While I don’t think the future of our country is parallel to my transitional wardrobe and this white off the shoulder top, I’ve got some feelings I’d like to share in today’s post.

There’s a dose of inspiration at the top of today’s post from my fashion buddha, Stacy London. Yesterday didn’t turn out like many of us planned. I’m a bit melancholy today. It’s not so much a political disappointment (I’ve left jobs because politics bother me so much), but a sadness for my friends and contacts who came together as women, LGBTQ allies, etc. for a very worthy fight. I’m sad for my step son as he works through  the hate language that saturates the airways, the internet, and the kitchen tables throughout the country. I’m sad for the people whom I work to serve via my nonprofit contracts.

Here we are, though, up and about! I’m at a coffee shop getting work done and preparing for a meeting in an hour or so. I drove past children waiting for the bus stop and men taking out the trash. The barista helped me pick out  a sugar free flavor for my coffee and laughed as I tried to find the exact change for my latte. Things are still going and life is still full of possibilities. Out of darkness, there will come light.

As always, when I’m gloomy, I turn to fashion. That is something we can always control in our lives. That is why I started Sweet Sauce two years ago. In America, we still have that right to self expression.

As we enter the belly of fall, I have entered into a pattern of continuous closet grooming, consigning of my clothes, and shopping for essentials to make the most of what I have. I find that I am more adaptable than ever. You are, too! This beautiful white off the shoulder top might be made for summer, but thanks to my new favorite essentials like this vest and my booties, It’s making it’s way comfortably into my fall outfits.
