Fickle Weather: Blue Sweater to the Rescue
The weather certainly hasn’t felt quite like winter down here in Richmond, VA. I went out last night in a t-shirt! We did have some cooler days that called for a cozier approach to fashion just before the holidays, though. I pulled this blue sweater on several times for a quick outfit change during the day as the temperature fluctuated.
Staying Bright
I think we all lean towards the darker side of fashion when winter rolls around. I even wear the all-black go-to outfit quite a bit. That’s not totally my personality, though. It’s easy, but not always me. My followers and friends know this! I think it’s important to be true to myself.
That’s why I love lighter items like this blue sweater. I can get away with the cozier winter looks without going dark. I’ve layered this blue sweater over olive skinny jeans, dark wash flares, and these white jeggings. The marled texture of the sweater makes it versatile enough to go with just about any color. Maybe I’ll even try it with black…
Style Tips
I blogged about making sweaters sexy here. While you don’t have to go full-on vamp, you can maintain some feminine flare when wearing winter’s cozy sweaters. To keep yourself from looking like a marshmallow, follow these rules:
- Wear skinny jeans with either heels, heeled boots, or sexy flats that show some skin.This will keep your legs looking long.
- If skinny jeans aren’t in the cards, then wear your flares with some heels. No wide legs, though. you’ll look even fluffier.
- Add a splash of sass. Here, I’m wearing hoops and a leather choker. They’re a bit understated, but go a long way making this sweater look less frumpy.
