My Favorite Airbnbs in the Outer Banks

As you know, I’ve been coming down to the Outer Banks more and more. I’ve been drawn to the welcoming people here, many of whom are entrepreneurs like me and have a lot to offer. The food never ceases to excite and satiate me. The sunsets, especially on the sound side, are colorful and slow. Each time I come, I get to stay somewhere new. When I’m on my own, I always head to Airbnb first to book a stay. Over the years, I’ve gotten several requests for my favorite Airbnbs in the Outer Banks. As I work remotely again for the week in the Outer Banks, I decided it was time to share!

You’ll see the spots I frequent are in the central region of the barrier islands. I typically chose to stay here because it’s easier to explore the island. That is my preference! There are plenty more places on the southern and northern regions to check out.  If you’re new to Airbnb, click this link and get up to $65 off your first stay!

Outer Banks Airbnbs I love

Beach Cottage in Nags Head

I stayed here with my little brother. The cottage is set in a popular area of the Outer Banks, so everything was easy to get to on foot or by bike, like Tortugas Lie a well known restaurant. The cottage was expectedly styled like a retro chic haven. There were a variety of beach accessories available to use. The hammock and fire pit outside were asking us to stay longer. This was great for 2-3 people.

Tiny House in Kitty Hawk

This spot was tucked a little bit away down some dirt roads. It was worth the trek. We still weren’t too far of a drive away from anything we wanted. The tiny house is one of a few the super host rents out on the property. They are experts at this. Everything was well organized and chicly decorated. The porch looks out upon the sound, which is where you’ll get to watch the best sunsets from the comfort of your Airbnb. It was the perfect remote working spot. This was great for two people to share the king bed.

Cozy Shack in Kill Devil Hills

We loved staying here with Zach and his pup! The room is located downstairs and has a full kitchen. The deck downstairs is wide open and has a hot tub! Zach also let us borrow his bikes, umbrellas, and chairs, which all made life easier. Having host on site is helpful when you have questions and need recommendations. It was easy to share the outdoor space and he was as hands off or hands on as we wanted. We invited friends over to have dinner with us one night and it was perfect. This was great for a couple.

Bohemian Inspired Spot in Kitty Hawk

If you’ve got a larger group, this one sleeps 9 people. It’s actually hosted by a Richmond Jenni Comer. She’s a fabulous realtor and her interior design skills make this an elevated spot to stay. It’s colorful, comfy and refined. There is a large deck that has a view of the ocean. The downstairs patio is perfect for outdoor entraining and fun. If you have a bachelor party or are planning a small family getaway, this would be a nice option.

Boho Modern House near Avalon Pier

This one caught my eye for the decor alone. Sometimes a break from your own home decor can really ignite the creativity in you. This one will do the trick. It will feel like home with a variety of cozy touches. The outdoor shower and fenced in backyard may appeal to some if the decor doesn’t. Having bikes available to use a big deal to me, saving on the labor of bringing your own.

Stay at Moms, Above Mom’s Sweet Spot in Kill Devil Hills

I finally got to see what all the fuss was about at Mom’s Sweet Spot, which is part cafe and part clothing and home boutique. There couldn’t be a more chic blend of all Outer Banks has to offer. There are fresh smoothies, bowls and other bites available when you’re craving something fresh and filling. The shop has a collection of vintage and modern clothing and home decor, well curated and high quality. Upstairs is where the Airbnb is! You can tell from the photos above the treatment is the same–cozy, beachy, yet refined. This would be good for a couple or best friends getaway.

Bed and Breakfast Bungalow in Manteo

I was fist drawn to this spot for the decor. I also love the town of Manteo, which I highly recommend you make time to visit!  Then, I realize this may be nice for a bit of a pampered stay. The hosts stock the room stock with locally made, hand-crafted soaps by the Waterside Weaver and your own Starbucks coffee options. You’ll also find cookies from a local baker, Pellegrino, and bottled water, which is always helpful Mohave on hand. Wake up to a breakfast tray with locally made jam and the options make your own fresh squeeze orange juice. The spot is a private room detached from the main house.

Chic New Renovation in Duck, NC

This house sleeps 8 people. It’s perfect for a family vacation. The big open kitchen was perfect fr congregating and cooking. Outside, therre are two sprawling decks that make you feel like you’re in a treehouse. It’s a nice long walk or 5-minute drive from the town of Duck, my favorite area in the Outer Banks. You can also walk 2 blocks to the beach, which is often prettyprivate in this area. The beds were super comfy and the wifi was strrong.
