It’s here. It’s actually here. The “Holidays.” I am in denial, myself, Richmond. Shopping for myself is as easy as pouring milk in my Special K every morning. Shopping for my strange and vast group of friends, family, and coworkers is a whole other daunting task. Good thing our artsy fartsy town has just been named the “Most Artistic Mid-Sized City in the U.S.”
I’ve compiled a list of shopping events around RVA in December. From fashion-focused gatherings to craft fairs, you’ll find it easy to stay local this holiday. Of you haven’t crossed off enough people via my Stella & Dot party, then make plans to take a break, have a drink, wear something bitchin, and get to checkin off that list! A Very Cary Christmas

It’s a Wonderful Night, Shops at 5807
5-8 p.m.
I’ve taken part in this great evening of fabulous shopping, hors d’oeuvres and refreshments for the past four years. If you don’t know, the Shops at 5807 features over 20 shops under one roof. It’s a diverse and trendy shopping experience you won’t find anywhere else in Richmond. A portion of proceeds of this event benefit Greater Richmond SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now).

Mimosas with Joseph [and JS]
December 12, 11-4 p.m. Quirk Gallery, 207 W. Broad Street
This is Quirk’s 10th annual holiday event. Visit the Richmond gallery (and definitely pop into the new hotel) for a day of mimosas, shopping, and holiday festivities at our its location adjacent to Quirk Hotel. This event will include a trunk show featuring Rabbit Foot Fern Stationery & Design, Brittanny Chanel Jewelry, and Bear Ceramics.
Brew Ho-Ho
December 12, 3-6 p.m., Hardywood Craft Park Brewery, 2408 Ownby Lane
It’s Richmond’s 2nd Annual end of the year celebration of local authors. Meet over 35 local authors. This is a casual event, so plan on having some great informal conversations with great authors, get some books signed (perfect for presents!), and grab a cold beer! It’s a family friendly event, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Virginia Children’s Book Festival.
Metzger Market
December 14, 5 p.m., Metzger Bar and Butchery 801 N 23rd Street
This up and coming German restaurant, bar and market has became a local favorite. It’s not surprising they’ll welcome local businesses for a night of shopping, snacking, and drinking in their cozy dining room. They’ll be offering a gluhwein and lebkuchen! Metzger is turning into a market for one night only. Support local artists with a cocktail in hand. Bring five pounds of canned goods to donate and get a special gift!
The Elevator Collective Open House and Holiday Market
December 17, 5:30-8:30 p.m., 1725 Arlington Road, Suite B
Take a peep into the the latest conglomerate of high end crafters. Peep at the new space these creators share and shop their latest handmade items. Drinks, snacks, and holidays deals will be had! The Elevator Collective is: Awl Snap, Caitie Sellers Metalsmith, Maslo Jewelry, richmond thread lab, Morris and Norris, Danielle Stevens, AmFm Store, and Isabel Edmonds.
