Five Ways to Wake Up More Refreshed

Have you been waking up feeling less than refreshed? Maybe you’re overworked or more stressed than usual. That good night’s sleep isn’t doing you justice. You wouldn’t be alone in this. Many people suffer the same struggle. That’s not to say that you have to grin and bear it, however.

You deserve to feel beautiful and alive when you wake up. We want to help you to make this happen. We’ve put together some tips to use.

You might have been told to “just go to bed earlier” or “just drink a strong black coffee” and you’ll get over it. These nuggets of knowledge may help in small ways, but there are more effective and sustainable habits that can help in the long-run.

Stay hydrated through the day

This might seem like an insignificant tip to kick things off with, but staying on top of your hydration is an important part of looking and feeling refreshed.

Start your day off with a large glass of water. Try adding a quarter of a fresh lemon for flavor and to help raise your depleted pH levels. The best thing about this pointer is that you don’t really have to do anything! You can start right away and can sip from the comfort of your own bed on a lovely firm mattress.

Remember to drink little and often throughout the day. You’ll notice your energy levels and your skin stay more fresh. Water helps flush antioxidants that are hanging out in your body with each and every sip of water you take.

Stay active

We talk a lot about fitness here. It can be in many forms. It can help with staying refreshed, as well. One of the reasons is that it helps fall asleep faster, so you get more sleep. Exercise comes high on the list of ways to reverse the signs of being tired.

Pick up that yoga mat, go for a walk, sign up for a barre class, take the dogs for a walk, do whatever it takes to get the minimum half an hour of exercise under your belt each day. Every time you get a bit of activity in, endorphins are released, which leads to more radiant skin, morning, noon and night.

Wake yourself with some water

We’ve already covered drinking water… Well, what we mean here is that you can splash some cold water on your face and neck in the mornings. It will not only awaken your senses, but it will help your complexion look brighter and feel refreshed. It will help you appear more awake by increasing your blood flow and reducing inflammation.

Eat the right stuff

Sugar-filled treats and fast food will always work against you, your skin, and your energy levels. The sodium and fats from fast foods cause fluid retention, which leads to a puffy-looking face. You might be surprised how many ways you can eat your fruits and veggies that are satisfying. I’ve had a lot of luck with Daily Harvest. You can get my discount code to try it here.

Eating fresh goes a seriously long way in the process of helping you stay fit and full of vigour. It’s okay to take the tempting route every once in a while, but avoid making it a regular thing or you’ll feel sluggish, look worse and then get stuck in a vicious cycle. Essentially, it’ll turn out to be a lose-lose situation that you want to avoid.

Use an effective moisturizer

It’s always best to apply moisturizers right after you wash your face or take a shower. I always have lots of suggestions for this! You all know I have eczema and the right moisturizer can change the game for me. Find a few that work best for both your body and your face. Sometimes you have to shop around. Your skin is always changing, so is your environment. Don’t be afraid to switch it up frequently.

If you’d like a little extra help feeling and looking refreshed, leave your moisturizer in the fridge for half an hour before you apply it. This helps reduce swelling and the constricts your blood vessels.

Now you’re refreshed and ready for the day ahead! What will you do with this opportunity?
