The HydraFacial: What to Love + What to Know

The HydraFacial: What to Love + What to Know

Sometimes I’m the first to know about new trends in self care, fashion and travel. A lot of times I’m not, though. I rely on my friends, other bloggers and my business contacts to keep me up-to-date and educate me about the next best thing. When it comes to beauty, I’m especially reliant on women in my life to tell me about trends and habits they love and think me and my followers should try. This is how I learned about the HydraFacial, now offered at Sugar & Hive in Richmond.

The entire HydraFacial process starts with a cleansing and follows with a custom mask for your skin.  Then, the aesthetician breaks out the super special  HydraFacial machine. This both cleanses and hydrates. It cleanses as it sucks and hydrates and then replaces the bad stuff with effective serums and solutions, loaded with antioxidants. The treatment is completed with LED light therapy and a finishing serum or moisturizer based on your skin needs.

A few reasons my friends and contacts have said they love the HydraFacial

  • You can see results right away. The glow is unmistakable.
  • It deep cleans your pores, better than any at-home mask or pore strips.
  • Because of that, your pores look small and your skin smooth.
  • It removes dead skin, which not only helps your skin glow, but helps it repair itself quickly. This slows the aging process.

After hearing about it so much. I gave it a try. Here are a few reasons I loved it:

  • The process hydrates as it cleanses. As the machine is sucking the bad stuff from your face, it’s replacing it with a hydrating serum. My dry skin loves that.
  • It’s more than just a machine. There’s a person there catering the treatment to your skin type. I felt confident my personal skincare needs were met.
  • I, too, felt like my skin was glowing right away. Sometimes you have to wait for the benefits of a facial to shine through. That’s not the cases with this facial.

How to take care of your face afterwards:

  • Know that a “Purge” is okay. You might get a few pimples a few days after the treatment.
  • Avoid exfoliation for 5-7 days, because you’ve already exfoliated quite a bit from the treatment.
  • Keep up regular treatments so your skin improves instead of reverts.
  • Keep your pores small with a good toner. I walked out with the Sorella Watermelon Mint Toner.

Give it a try!

Sugar & Hive is getting a second HydraFacial machine. This is exciting because you can book treatments with friends and family (hello, Mother’s Day gift…) They’re inviting you to give it a try with a special deal April 26-28.

During this special weekend event, you will pay $50 for a 20-Minute HydraFacial. Schedule and pay in advance as you would any other appointment. That’s $75 off.

Bonus: I’m giving one away over on Instagram. Check it out now.
