Florals and Jumpsuits: Shop our Kabana Happy Hour Looks

Florals + Jumpsuits + Kabana, Oh My

If you received The Sauce newsletter last month (you can sign up on the sidebar!), then you know I’ve welcomed two team members aboard to help uncover and share more style, sips, sweats and more for you here at Sweet Sauce. Keep scrolling to meet them both below. We’ve been meeting to get the wheels turning during the past month. Last Thursday, we officially kicked things off as a team. To get the party started, we headed to Kabana. We’re working on a cocktail guide to Richmond, so we’re doing our research like a good blog squad.

What’s New at Kabana?

Kabana has launched a regular Countdown to Sundown Happy Hour every Thursday this summer. From 4 to 8 p.m., the rooftop bar and restaurant is offering a different drink special on the hour, every hour. Each hour’s drink special is available for the price of the hour, meaning you simply add a $ sign to the hour for the cost.  How clever.

In true Richmond spirit, a collab fuels the special drink menu. Each cocktail on the happy hour menu includes a creation using King of Pops popsicles. We all three tried and loved the mojito to start. Arianna and I  followed it up with the prosecco concoction, which was a little sweet. Becca stuck with prosecco sans the popsicle.  I wouldn’t mind making my way through more of the happy hour collaboration menu. It’s a creative way to kick off the night before you switch over to your regular drink–a simple gin and soda for me.

If you don’t make it for the Thursday happy hour, you can purchase a King of Pops popsicle by itself or ask the bartender to add it to your favorite cocktail or champagne. If you’re headed in on a Friday, ask for a King of Pops addition to your drink before a DJ sets the dance floor on fire. Kabana features a different local or international DJ each week. Facebook is the best place to keep tabs on events and happenings here.

Meet Arianna, Editorial Assistant

I’ve known Arianna for a couple years now and I’m so glad she answered my call when I asked the internet for team members. She has a Bachelor’s in Public Relations and a Music minor from Virginia Commonwealth University. She brings a sharp pen and a really sassy sense of style to the team. Arianna will be helping write and edit articles for Sweet Sauce. In addition, she’ll be keeping our content calendar organized and full of ideas and projects.

“I firmly believe in the Sweet Sauce mission to be inspiring, inclusive, authentic, and above all–fabulous!” she wrote. “Let’s create something wonderful together.”

If you see her out at events, say “Hi” and tell her a little bit about yourself. It may turn into the next story idea. She wants to help foster community through fashion, events, music, beauty and more. Be on the look out for a special beauty column from this gorgeous Aquarius. Send beauty questions and story ideas to her at roseshowlifestyle@gmail.com.

When she’s not repping Sweet Sauce and wearing gorgeous floral dresses, Arianna is doing makeup at Avenue 42 Style Studio, freelance singing with the Richmond Symphony Chorus, and working out. She has a dream of writing from her laptop and traveling the world. I hope we can get her one step closer to that dream.

Meet Becca, Partnership Coordinator

When I took Becca out to lunch at the VMFA to get to know her, I knew she was the missing piece to the Sweet Sauce pie. She is full of energy, ideas, connections, and business sense. She knows every fun thing happening in town and can understand my vision when I start talking about turning Sweet Sauce into something more.

Becca will be helping communicate with businesses about collaboration opportunities and partnerships. She’s your girl to talk to if you want to get featured, host a giveaway, advertise and more. We’re already into our RVA Fitness series thanks to her. I can’t wait to start rolling out those reviews and giveaways for the Richmond girl on the go.

“As a Libra, I’m all about balance,” she said. “Sweet Sauce projects offer me a chance to tap into my creative side. On top of that, one of my passions has always been supporting local businesses, so having the opportunity to work with them to help them gain better brand awareness means a lot to me.”

I couldn’t have said it better. Outside of Sweet Sauce, Becca is flexing her MBA as a Strategic Human Capital Specialist for the Defense Commissary Agency. She fancy. And sharp. Send her emails at collabwithsweetsauce@gmail.com.
