Feeling Grateful

Happy Thanksgiving! I’m feeling incredibly grateful today as I plan my outfit and meals (yes, I’m still deciding!) for Thanksgiving with my dad’s side of the family. I have like a million cousins whom I call my closest friends and I get to hang out with them today. Our generation is pretty much in control of Thanksgiving, we just let our parents THINK they are for now. We learn everything from them, to be fair.

I wanted to express my gratitude for a few things today:

I am grateful to have been able to carve out this space in blogland for Sweet Sauce. I recently was a feature blogger on VCU’s fashion blog, River City Fashion Uprising. I got an overwhelming amount of positive feedback. Thank you to everyone who took the time to read!

I am grateful for my yoga practice. I recently pulled my trapezius muscle, and have been out of commission for over a week. I just got in my first practice this Tuesday and felt totally revived. I plan to dive back in after Turkey Day. I am incredibly grateful for my overall health.

I am truly grateful for all my friends and family who constantly make me laugh, let me try to make them laugh, and even do the simplest things like carve out time to come watch my man’s latest concert. Every little gesture means so much and I hope I show my appreciation enough back to everyone.

As I express my gratitude, I also want to point out below that I’ve gotten my second Liebster Award! I’ll take this opportunity to help you learn a little more about me and the bloggers I love.

liebsterThe Liebster Award is an award given to new bloggers by other bloggers as a way to support and promote each other in growing their blogs.  It’s a great opportunity to build up some connections and maybe even make some new blogger friends.

Huge shout out to Stephanie from Drunk on Vogue for the nomination! It has been so much following and connecting with you.  I love my RVA Fashion Bloggers and Stephanie is no exception.

The Rules:

1. Post your award to your blog.

2. Answer the questions that you were given from the person who nominated you.

3. Nominate a few new bloggers you’ve discovered.

4. Create 10 new questions for the nominees.

5. Thank the blogger who nominated you and post a link to their blog.

My Questions from Stephanie at Drunk on Vogue:

1. How would you define your style?

My style is bohemian, meets prep, meets a paint palette. I love color and believe you should dress to have fun. I also believe in being a lady and embracing my feminine side.

2. Who are your style icons?

That’s a hard one. I try not to model myself after anyone than by me. If I have to name a few role models, I’ll start with my cousin Ruthie who has lived in New York for decades, handed me down her clothes, and always encouraged me to wear the damn fur. Secondly, I’d like to call out my bestest friend, Alex, who has a knack at investing in solid, simple, statement pieces and putting them together in a great outfit. If I’m headed to my celebrity style crushes, let’s go with Jennifer Anniston, Kate Hudson, and and Olivia Palermo.

3. What is your favorite style of shoe?

Shoes! Give me a 4-inch heel, straight up.

4. What is your favorite autumn drink?

Red wine. Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

5. What is your go-to date night look?

Sexy skinny jeans, flowing top, statement earrings, and bitchin heels. Definitely with a side of gin and tonic.

6. How do you decorate pumpkins?

I don’t! I live in the city on the third floor of an apartment building. We don’t spend much time on decorations! I do throw a halloween party every year…

7. What is the craziest beauty trend you’ve ever tried?

The gelatin on the face for blackheads trick. It works, but it smells and is the most unattractive I’ve ever felt.

8. What is your favorite fashion/beauty subscription box?

I don’t use a lot of subscription boxes. I had fun with RocksBox for a couple months. I recently tried Fabletics for athletic wear and have loved every purchase. I was an early Birchbox adopter. I recently started Club W for wine. They’re all so different and worthwhile, I think. You learn a lot about your personal preferences and different products. They definitely make great holiday gifts. I’ve given my cousin a beer subscription and my dad a breakfast subscription! There’s something for everyone.

9. Favorite show to binge-watch on Netflix?

I literally just got done watching The Office for the second time through. It is the best mood lifter. As far as new shows go, Peaky Blinders had my complete attention earlier this fall.

10. Which blogger do you admire the most?

Grace Atwood of The Stripe and Amanda Holstein from Advice from a Twenty Something.

My Nominations:

Oddly Fashionable

Now, I don’t mean to seem lazy, but I kept a lot of Stephanie’s questions:

1. How would you define your style?

2. Who are your style icons?

3. What is your least favorite part about blogging?

4. What is your number one tip to staying healthy during the holidays?

5. What is your go-to date night look?

6. What are your favorite colors to decorate your home or apartment?

7. What is the craziest beauty trend you’ve ever tried?

8. What is your favorite piece of clothing in your closet?

9. What is your go-to recipe for a potluck or family gathering?

10. Which blogger do you admire the most?

I can’t wait to read all of your responses! I am so grateful to have connected with each of you already and look forward to learning more about one another.
